The international community must firmly reject selective approaches and double standards in the fight against terrorism and eliminate the breeding ground for terrorism by reducing conflicts and poverty and respecting the diversity of civilizations, said Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, on Wednesday.
Speaking at the briefing of the report of the UN secretary-general on the activities of the UN system in implementing the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, Fu said that over the past two decades since its adoption, the strategy has played a pivotal role in preventing and combating terrorism, strengthening counter-terrorism capacity-building of UN member states and enhancing international counter-terrorism cooperation.
China "supports the United Nations in continuing to play its central, coordinating role," he said.
