(Opinion) Sino-US ties will be shaped by interactions

"During the upcoming G20 summit in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to meet with his US counterpart Barack Obama. This year China and the US have seen their strategic distrust rise and their relationship dealt a blow by the South China Sea arbitration and the plan of the US and South Korea to deploy the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense anti-missile system in South Korea. Against this backdrop, straightening out where bilateral ties stand now is highly necessary.

As the only country that is able and has the motive to contain China's rise, the US constitutes the biggest disturbance to China's national security. Washington is connected to almost all deteriorations in China's relations with neighboring countries, and its rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region and military redeployment centered in the region are directed against China.

During Obama's term, the US has kept both increasingly vigilant and engaged with China. It tends to use effort-free and convenient means to disturb China's development."
