"An increasing number of Chinese are working and studying in Myanmar. The coexistence of them and locals has never been a problem. However, some Western media outlets have long been attempting to hype anti-Chinese sentiment in Myanmar.

In its article 'Animosity in a Burmese hub deepens as Chinese get richer' published last week, the New York Times accused the 'hustle of Chinese businessmen' and the 'demands of Chinese commerce' of fading Mandalay's charms. 'Residents view them [Chinese businessmen] as interlopers who take advantage of Mandalay's location close to India and Bangladesh, Laos and Thailand, as well as a large swath of southern China," the article claimed. These allegations are groundless."
