India, Japan, US hold strategic dialogue; Beijing's assertiveness discussed

"China was the big elephant in the room as India, Japan and the United States considered ways to enhance strategic cooperation in the Asia Pacific at their sixth trilateral dialogue here yesterday.
The three countries, which have been concerned over increasing Chinese assertiveness in the South China Sea, are also understood to have considered a proposal to take their trilateral dialogue to the level of foreign ministers.
The dialogue was co-chaired by senior officials from the three countries. Various issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting, official sources here said."
