The World Bank (WB) has raised its forecast for China's GDP growth in 2017 to 6.7 percent from a previous forecast of 6.5 percent, the Washington-based lender said in its latest East Asia and Pacific Economic Update report on Wednesday.
The lender also raised its annual GDP growth forecast for China in 2018 to 6.4 percent from the previous forecast of 6.3 percent.
China reported a higher-than-expected GDP growth rate of 6.9 percent for the first half of this year, as its economic transformation drives new growth momentum.
China is expected to report its third-quarter GDP figure this month, and analysts have put the third-quarter growth figure at 6.8 percent as the world's second-largest economy still faced downward pressure in the second half, according to news site yicai.com on Monday.
