Trump's tweet on China-N.Korea oil trade absurd, counterproductive: analysts

US President Donald Trump might have intended to pressure China into doing more on North Korea by sending out a tweet that basically accuses China of potentially violating UN resolutions. Instead, his tweet, which lacked substantiated evidence, was met with mockery and criticism in China on Friday.
Chinese experts called Trump's attempt to use Twitter to conduct negotiations for one of the world's trickiest diplomatic issues "absurd" and urged the US president to get his facts straight in handling such an important issue. Nor should he rely on unsubstantiated media reports.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also on Friday dismissed media reports that suggested Chinese vessels were supplying oil to North Korea as inaccurate, saying the vessels in question have not returned to Chinese ports since August.
