BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Consultations between China and ASEAN countries on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea have made progress. A spokesperson of China's Foreign Ministry, Hua Chunying made the remarks at a routine press conference on Friday.
The remarks were made after ASEAN foreign ministers agreed to intensify efforts in the management of disputes on the South China Sea during their meeting in Malaysia.
"All sides have agreed to complete the Code of Conduct on an early date, and have reached important consensus on an early result. Formulation of the code of conduct is a component of implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.
China hopes all sides can strengthen cooperation and mutual trust under the framework of the declaration, so as to create favourable conditions for consultations on the code," Hua said.
