Tokyo, citing abduction issue, cautious toward Abe-Kim talks

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is reportedly open to a summit with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, but Tokyo remains cautious and wants signs of progress on the abduction issue first.
The possibility of the summit came up when Kim met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in their historic meeting last week.
North Korea could try to use an Abe-Kim summit to prod Japan to ease sanctions and provide large-scale assistance to help the isolated and struggling country shore up its economy.
