Erdogan heads for Britain — his last friend in Europe

President Erdogan can be assured of a warm welcome when he lands in London on Sunday afternoon. These days, that is rare.
His recent tirades against Europe have made him a pariah in many of the continent’s capitals. In the run-up to last year’s constitutional referendum, he accused the German and Dutch governments of behaving “like Nazis” after they banned his party from holding rallies on their soil.
Since then, he has kept up a flaming rhetoric against the European Union, accusing the bloc of insincerity in its dealings with Turkey and of failing to deliver the aid money promised under the 2016 refugee deal.
