Kim summit may be delayed, warns Trump

President Trump admitted last night that his plans to meet Kim Jong-un could fall through amid mounting concern that North Korea’s readiness to relinquish its nuclear weapons has been exaggerated.
As he welcomed President Moon of South Korea to the White House Mr Trump conceded that a meeting with Mr Kim scheduled for June 12 in Singapore “may not work out” if the North did not meet certain unnamed conditions. “If it doesn’t happen, maybe it will happen later,” he said.
In what amounted to a direct appeal to Mr Kim, Mr Trump repeated a promise that nuclear disarmament would be rewarded with economic growth and security guarantees. “He will be safe, he will be happy, his country will be rich,” Mr Trump said of the dictator. “South Korea, China and Japan . . . will be willing to help and I believe invest very, very large sums of money into helping to make North Korea great.”
