Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with visiting Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, calling on the two countries to promote friendship and deepen cooperation to lift bilateral ties to a new level. 

Xi asked Ngan to convey his greetings to Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese president. 

Calling the two countries "comrades and brothers," Xi said that they form a community of shared future with strategic significance.
