Two men and their hostage died as police moved to end a siege in Istanbul

'Mehmet Selim Kiraz and the hostage-takers from DHKP-C - which is listed as a terrorist group by the US, EU and Turkey - were killed when police moved in to end the siege.

Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah said a 52-year-old British national of Polish origin was accused of having "close ties" with the organisation.   

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that a British national has been arrested in Turkey and that we are offering consular assistance."'
