US sanctions on seven Chinese officials over Hong Kong is just waste paper; China has issued strong counterattacks against US sanctions in the past few years, so if Washington insists on playing such tricks, China will play along until the end, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday, while also strongly opposes and condemns such sanctions.

The remarks slammed the Biden administration's advisory regarding operational risks in Hong Kong to attack the national security law for the HKSAR and the US Treasury Department's sanctions on seven deputy directors of the central government's liaison office in Hong Kong on Friday.

The ministry said such moves expose the US' evil intentions of thwarting Hong Kong's stability and prosperity, and they won't succeed. It also said that China will adopt all necessary measures to protect its rights and interests.
