The Workshop on the Implementation of the 2002 ASEAN-China Declaration of Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) was held in Manila on August 28 and 29.  Zhang Xinyue, Deputy Director of Division of International Exchanges, NISCSS, was invited to attend the workshop and give a speech in the session of "Considerations for Sustaining Cooperation and the Way Forward".

This workshop focuses on practical cooperation under the DOC Framework, particularly on how China and ASEAN countries can further deepen cooperation and enhance mutual trust in terms of marine environmental protection, combating crimes at sea, safety of navigation and maritime search and rescue. The workshop was attended by more than sixty people, including maritime department officials from China and ASEAN countries as well as scholars and specialists from universities and think-tanks.
