On September 12, a workshop on "Navigating Towards the Free and Open Seas of Asia: The Role of International Law in Maintaining Good Order at Sea” was jointly held by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, and British Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam. Zhang Xinyue, Deputy Director of Division of International Exchange, NISCSS, attended the workshop and spoke in the panel "Marine Resources and Sustainable Development".

The workshop brought together more than 100 participants, including experts from think-tanks and academic institutions of Vietnam, Japan, the UK, China, India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, officials from maritime departments of The Communist Party, the government and the military of Vietnam, diplomats from the ASEAN, North American and European countries stationed in Vietnam, as well as journalists from international and domestic media.
