On 17 September 2025, the NISCSS, in collaboration with Hainan Federation of Social Science Associations and Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance, will host the "Hainan Think Tank Forum  China（Hainan）- ASEAN 2025 Think Tank Forum" in Haikou.

The forum will convene approximately 30 distinguished scholars and experts from think tanks and research institutions across China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The primary focus of the discussions will include topics such as China (Hainan) – ASEAN Blue Economy Innovation and Industrial Cooperation, China (Hainan) – ASEAN Marine Conservation and Fisheries Cooperation, as well as Maritime Infrastructure Development and Passage Security in the South China Sea. In addition, over 100 experts, scholars, and representatives from various think tanks in Hainan, along with media organization representatives, are expected to participate in the event.
