Cross-Strait Forum on the South China Sea Issue
The Cross-Strait Forum on the South China Sea Issue was initiated by the NISCSS and the Institute of International Relations of Taiwan Chengchi University in March, 2002. It has been held alternately in Hainan and Taiwan. This Forum is designed to facilitate communications among experts and scholars specializing in South China Sea studies, strengthen academic exchanges, and promote cooperation in South China Sea studies. Over the past decade and more, the Forum has made great academic achievements.
South China Sea-themed Summer Camp
The South China Sea-themed Summer Camp was initiated in August, 2012. Organizers include the NISCSS, the Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies of Nanjing University, the Academia Sinica and Taiwan Ocean University. By the end of October 2014, three camps had been held, each with more than 30 participants from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan Chengchi University and other universities or colleges. The Camp is designed to promote exchanges among college students, disseminate oceanic culture, bolster oceanic awareness and facilitate cross-strait cooperation in oceanic education.
Assessment Report on the Situation in the South China Sea
The National Institute for South China Sea Studies (NISCSS) began to release the sensational Assessment Report on the Situation in the South China Seasince 2002. In order to promote cross-strait cooperation in South China Sea studies, NISCSS President Wu Shicun and Professor Liu Fu-kuo, research fellow with the Institute of International Relations at Taiwan Chengchi University, began to join hands in compiling the Report in August 2011. More than ten scholars contribute their wisdom to this undertaking. The Report covers an assessment of the situation in the South China Sea, cross-strait South China Sea policies, changes in the South China Sea policies of relevant claimants and non-claimants and prospects of cross-strait cooperation.
